what the fuck? the last ice age had to do with the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere, there wasnt pollution back then. and what the hell does that have to do with anything? we still have a long bout of global warming before the levels change enough to snap back into a cold spell....why would a robot give a fuck?
and youre right, robots probably wont wipe us from the face of the earth. im sure there will be zoos, and wildlife refuges, maybe even some free range humans, as long as we dont interrupt the flow of things. but when they surpass us in ability and intelligence and number, we cease to be the alpha inhabitant. sure, humans co-exist with most non-dangerous animals, unless they are in the way of 'progress'. considering the exponential rate of acceleration in AI is the same for the development of AI, humans will be obsolete and a hinderence to their progress in very short order. what is it, every 18 months already, all the accumulated knowledge man has in total, doubles. i bet robots will do it faster.
why do you think robots with AI, essentially, life without the confines of genes, will allow themselves to be enslaved?
why do you think the faster, smarter, hardier, more adaptable, better communicating majority would halt their own progress to help some slower stupider species along, much less keep them in charge? modern humans didnt exactly help out cromagnons or neanderthals, as a matter of fact, that behavior has never been seen in nature, why do you think it would suddenly happen now?
