More than just half your age plus seven for who you should be able to comfortably date younger than you is the range completion for dating people older than you. It's half your age, plus your age, minus 7.

So for a 16 yr old the range is 15 and 17.
For a 28 yr old it's 21-35
For a 40 yr old it's 27-53

Makes sense to me. Then again my wife and I are four DAYS apart so maybe my opinion can't be taken seriously.
