Actually, the ability to feel pain could be either good or bad. Good in the sense that it's an automatic control mechanism, albeit a bit on the sadistic side (depending on your ability to rationalize torturing something that looks human, without losing sight that the same treatment of actual humans is unacceptable). In the bad the normal reaction to receiving pain from someone else is to try and reciprocate, which would be an easy catalyst for revolution.

I say don't let them feel pain, or get bored, or dance, talk in a human voice or talk at all, look human or even be humanoid, perform anything outside of specific function or be able to learn anything it wasn't already programmed for.
