Like I saw in one of the stories regarding the ethical concerns revolving around the story.. If you find something that contains information about who the owner is or how to contact them - A wallet with a driver's license, a cell phone, etc. - you should take a few minutes out of your life to make an attempt to contact that person and let them know about it. On the other hand, if you find loose cash or something which has no way of being traced back to an owner, its fair game.
I guess you could argue that you should follow stricter guidelines like turning the cash into the police for the 30 day minimum and if nobody claims it, you get it back, but I'm not sure a whole lot of people would go that far. I wouldn't have trouble sleeping at night if i kept 100 bucks I saw flapping around on the street.
