Seems to me that the whole point of the books is to provide some shock therapy. If you tell a guy who acts like a lap dog to hot girls to treat her like trash, all that is going to happen is that he will be more confident and not put her on that high of a pedestal. Take a 2 and aim him towards 10 and he'll end up an 8.
Kind of reminds me of one of my favorite lines.
"I think you're cute. And that's a damn shame because I'm WAYYYY out of your league."
