I love both of the Rainbow Six: Vegas games despite their glitchiness. I don't know if it the glitches that bothered you about RSV1 or if it was the gameplay.
I'll let you in on a little secret RSV1 and RSV2 are almost identical games. The gameplay mechanics are the same, the graphics are barely improved, and RSV2 is still a buggy game. There are some great minor changes and the XP system is greatly improved from RSV1. Online co-op campaign and terrorist hunt is ultimate fun (I can't remember if RSV1 had that or not).
Like I said, I love these games, but your classmate is lying to you.
