I was thinking the same thing. He lives in Wichita which is a few hours from where I live. He used to protest any and everything at the college I went to and he's all-around dispicable.
People around here have gotten used to his protests and have learned to ignore him but it's hard.
The most creative way to get to him that I've ever been a part of: When I was working retail in downtown Lawrence, the KU Queers and Allies were going to hold an AIDS Awareness parade down the main drag of the town, which is where my shop was. Since it's common knowledge that the Phelps' come out in droves whenever there's anything gay in the air, my shop put a donation sheet in our window where people could pledge to give a certain dollar amount to the AIDS Walk for every protestor that showed up. The idea spread all over downtown, and when the Phelps got word that the more people they brought, the more money would go to help the cause, they severely backed off. Pretty cool, I thought.
