I have to agree with Matt on the point that Copyrights hinder creativity. I see the piont of having them yes as without them some people would not be willing to create more but it has just become a huge big business area where all these artists will can sue is for just borrowing one part of anothers and re conceptualizing all the other parts
Watch the documentry "Good Copy, Bad Copy" it talks about the whole remix culture http://www.goodcopybadcopy.net/ (you can watch the film there, it brings interesting light to the whole remix, sampling, and copyright violation debate) Trailer
If you want to get pissed at someone profiting from only sampling music of other artists to make his own, look up Girl Talk(link) this guy blatantly samples other music to make his own. The only reason Girl Talk isn't sued for his sampling is he doesn't profit from his CD sales he just makes money from touring. Which is where most artist make their money.
Does anyone remember the backstage show where Brotherlove talked about taking a guitar rift from an AC/DC track to put in his? (Is was on a backstage episode). Thats copyright violation. So why do we support BroLo if he is guilty of sampling himself?
