To be fair to McNally - he was in NYC for almost a year, and seemed to be pretty immersed into it all. You just have to realize, that not only is Canada physically different, but so is our mindset. In the states, if 25% of the population demanded equal representation of their 1st language ( other than english ) - they'd send the army in. In Canada, not only did we give the french their rights, but we probably went overboard ( talk to any English Quebecer ). In the US, a big deal was made about having an African-American for President - here in Canada if we had black people they may have made it in ( being the cool kids ), but at least we had a female Prime Minister for maybe 20 minutes. We tend to be more laid back here, more reflective and easy going about life - at least compared to New York. Hell, since McNally left - the sales of bear spray have gone significantly down to the point of where they're considering a government bail-out.

A year in NYC, is enough to understand it - especially compared to a lifetime in the Great White North.
