I don't think Keith will admit to being an alcoholic, as admitting it means he has to stop drinking ...
What's the difference between being an alcoholic and being a heavy drinker? Is it the "Alcoholics need to drink to function" and "An alcoholic's life/family is adversely affected by their drinking" test? Based on the listener's voyeuristic knowledge of Keith and his life - to what degree does Keith meet these definitions?
I've been trolling my way through the back catalog (again) and have just passed the show where Keith gave up drinking for a week (in the end to win $700 from a listener - this was when Chemda gave up diet coke). Would an alcoholic be able to do that? He didn't seem to suffer any physical withdrawals. Now Chemda obviously dislikes the amount Keith drinks but she is very much an enabler so can she really claim an adverse affect? Besides she seems unwilling to give up "choking a bitch" when Keith is so obviously disturbed by this ... so why should Keith give up the drink? He sure looked healthy enough in April and I believe he has liver function tests every year ...
Anyway, it's something to think about. I look forward to the Monday KaTG AA meetings. Judging by this crowd, I'm sure attendance will be high
