I don't think so. If she loses her shit, and starts pushing on him to stop that's when he'll really start drinking. She should set an example, and do something healthy. Jogging etc. That way he will learn to hate what alcohol is doing to him.
I know it's corny, but that is the way most people think. Confrontation causes stress, and stress makes booze taste extra good.
There is always the laxitive in the beer trick. After the third or fourth day of massive squirts, he will associate horrible abdominal pain with the drinking. TADA! I fixed alcoholism. NEXT problem!
