Any organized group of people who require their members to attempt to convert others leaves me cold. Not only is narcissistic self-importance a requirement for evangelizing ("zomg I'm so smart, I know what you need!"), but most conversion efforts don't exactly work out great in a historical perspective. European missionaries were arguably a more culturally destructive force in the Americas than the Conquistadors. Asian sub-continental missionaries increased starvation and disease proliferation by increasing populations with their anti-birth control preachings. And innumerable wars have begun on the basis of religious intolerance born of the basic construct "I'm right, you're wrong. My god is real and yours is crazy."

Of course, without religious beliefs I wouldn't be able to laugh at magic underwear, magic walls that only certain people can pray at, magic wine that isn't really wine, magic words that are magic, magic sculptures that bleed, magic toast, magic rivers, magic deserts, or magic dudes that try to make you do selfish things (as if I need some magic dude to convince me to be selfish).

In the end, no I don't care if a comedian that's making me laugh is Mormon, Hindu or Zoroastrian. I only care if the comedian is making me laugh.

But just try to slip in some "join us" joke in your set buddy... just try.
