When you're in LA, hit up Melrose, go to the Abbey (one of LA's most iconic gay bars), if you're interested in brand name clothes for cheap, check out The Citadel-I think it's in Downey-It's an outlet mall, so you're going to wade through a lot of crap, but there will be a few gems.
For touristy stuff, go to the Venice boardwalk. Even though it's kind of like Keith and Chemda describe Times Square on the show. It used to be dirty, and fun and dangerous (but also full of artists and performers and fun creative energy) and now everything and every one is white white white. But it's still got a little residual pot-head, artist fun left in it. There are still performers and bong shops and sidewalk art galleries, just a little more tame. I suggest that you visit before they turn it into a theme park, or some equally annoying piece of crap tourist trap.
