Avatar on the whole deserves an oscar, a lot more than Hurt Locker, simply for the technical aspects of it. The 3D alien universe was done amazingly. I think it's a groundbreaking movie as Star Wars was in the 70's. But as Star Wars, it's a silly simple thing. If i was a kid i would've loved that.
Hurt Locker was good but not oscar deserving. A good war movie, but no Black Hawk Down.
