Valve are up to something.
They patched Portal today and the patch notes read:

The
steam forums immediately jumped on it and found 17 minutes of morse code, a
new achievement called 'Transmission Received' and this:
Turns out the code comes from moving in game radios to certain points (that achievement comes from putting the radio on to the big red button on the first stage, which then spits out morse code) and the loud thing from above is when you throw a radio into a forcefield.
First translated message reads:
