Sniper Elite is on sale for £2/$2/Yurps2 on steam. Not a great game by any measure but unusual enough to be worth a try.

It really depends what kind of games you like, GOG is just a distribution service so all genres are catered for.
If you're starved for inspiration, the always reliable
PC Gamer Top 100 is well worth a read.
This list, although made for netbooks, is useful too.
Obviously, check the specs before you buy anything. The important stuff being:
