Ok. I'm going to say this one more time. I'm not suggesting that we forget that Polanski drugged and raped a 13 year old girl. I think it is important to remember how much damage he did to this young girl. This, however, does not make his art less meaningful. The point of art is to make you feel something. Chinatown and Rosemary's Baby do that to me, and his raping of the young girl has no bearing on the art itself.
Yes, his image is tainted, rightfully, by his actions. But his image and his art are separate entities.
And that's all. This topic will bear no fruit any longer if there is the inherent lack of understanding that seems to be happening here. I'm sending the CD soon, and I'm sure that will make everything better.
