It actually only takes a couple of weeks of practice to learn, and doesn't require any complicated methods. Good cubers solve in under 30 seconds.

I think it works roughly like the 7-cube (but way different than a regular 3-cube), so breaking and rebuilding it is pretty fun in itself:
