When you're in Scily have a chat with people about the issue, see if i made any of those up., And it has nothuing to do with the church. Homophobi, ignorance and hate are in the DNA of some part of the population.
If all it pops up is "hey i think gay men talk funny", i can live with that. Peacefully so.
Let's fight real homophobia instead of raging against petty issues.
