My wife has been on and off weight watchers for a few years and it works great for her (she stops when she's been pregnant). It's good for me too as, though I don't count points, I eat better and try the recipes in all her books. We've done it for so long that it is kind of second nature now and my wife doesn't need to look at her points books at every meal.
It can be hard but I think my wife has succeeded most when she is consistent with the eating and getting some exercise in. Some weeks you may build up some muscle which makes it look like you've not lost as much as you think you should have, but keep going. If you're eating better and exercising but not losing heaps of weight, you're still going to be in a better spot than giving up.
A really good breakfast we found was some low/no fat yoghurt, bananas and frozen mixed berries in the blender. Then eat it, don't just put it in the blender and look at it because it starts to grow fungus after a few weeks and although that makes you puke, bulimia isn't the way.
Good luck!
