I was a highschool sophomore, so my priorities were different. I didn't read newspapers or listen to any news outlets that would update me on such matters (my parents still had 56k at the time). Phone line time was precious and the internet was strictly for KaZaA, porn, and video games. My hs was tech oriented so we didn't have teachers who'd point such news stories out to us.
