There's nobody in the 1780s filled with self-loathing because they keep a potty under their bed, dreaming of that day when the universalisation of ensuite bathroomry would rid them of their existential dread.
By the 1880s, sure, yes, they
might have imagined such a rosy piss-free future.
By the 1980s there'd have to have been something a bit wrong with them.
