sorry about your iphone
Sorry about your iPhone; I just shattered the screen on mine last week.
This is how I got about $150 off the last iPhone i brought and what I've done already so I'll get a new one when they iPhone 5 drops in a few weeks. Since I used the "what do we do now technique" it's only right to share.
The AT&T network is terrible, so most iPhone users have a large number of dropped calls. Download the last 3 months of your bills and count the number of dropped calls; where there is less than 1 minute between calls to same number. Multiply that number by $0.10 which is the actual cost per minute (avg; it may also be $0.15).
Call AT&T customer service, be nice as you can despite them until it gets rough. Make the statement (don't ask just tell) that you want a credit for $$$. Apply the same "what do we do now" or any other technique you have in your toolbox. Be patient and assertive and you will get a credit. Or be soft and take what they give you.
The credit will be applied to your account. The next day call in to AT&T and order your phone. Charge the phone to your account. You just got yourself a discounted phone.
I regularly get credits on my phone bill. when you pay in advance for service and don't receive service you are entitled to get something back. I just got a $103.0 credit and now just waiting on the iphone.
good luck to all
