I am terrible and lyricists would be so annoyed with me, but its rarely the words in a song that can break me down. It's the sound of the guitars (the gentlest pluck to the hardest, distorted attack), a snare hit on the drums that echoes, an unexpected chord change, anything really. I love vocals but I don't think I could relay a vocal line that I love but I could hum a thousand melodies that I do.

There's been a lot of metal music lately that has got to me, think the aggression reflects a lot of the grief of losing my Dad last year.

Helm - Salt (the quiet breakdown which leads into this incredibly strong, Isis-like vocal).

Tesseract - Eden (he screams "sacrifice" at a point towards the end of the song and it gets me)

and for the not so heavy songs;
Smashing Pumpkins - Speed Kills from the Stand Inside Your Love single(just the whole sound of this song, its fuckin gorgeous)

Foo Fighters - Walk (the lyrics in this get to me, I have a habit of making the lyrics fit with whats been happening lately which is just a recipe for water works. Me learning to walk again is me learning to live without my Dad around).

Jeff Buckley - pick a song.

I've been a random, bumbling mess in the last 9 months. But I'm so hardcore, yo.
