Tig Notaro vs Cancer

Some of you may already know that former KATG guest and hilarious comedian Tig Notaro was diagnosed with breast cancer a little while ago. This was after losing her mother suddenly and also going through the break up of a long-term relationship and also having to literally fight for her life against a horrendous bacterial infection. She had recently faced down the Grim Reaper and won.

Then he came back. And he came back when she was already weakened and underweight from the infection.

She announced her cancer to the world during a set at Largo in front of an unsuspecting crowd who'd just gone out for the night to laugh at some of their favourite comics. One of those comics was Louis CK, who would later call her set that night one of the greatest he had ever seen. She went on to talk about it on several episodes of her podcast, Professor Blastoff, and today she and Louis released the recording of that fateful Largo set on Louis's website.

It costs $5. $5 to hear what one of the greatest comedians of all time calls one of the greatest sets of all time. Tig comes on stage and begins her performance with, "Hello ... good evening, hello ... I have cancer, how are you?" She continues in that deadpan Tig way and it's clear the audience thinks its a bit and gradually you hear them realise she's not joking about the cancer. But it's still hilarious. Because it's Tig.

Spoiler.

This week on the latest episode of Professor Blastoff Tig announced that after a double mastectomy she is currently cancer-free. This was a very heavy thing but, as of now at least, it has a happy ending.
