All that stuff is real hard, considering we don't really know the qualities of the people who will take over the government; all we know is that they are being violently repressed. I mean, in Libya there's accusations of straight up executions by the rebels. Egypt ain't exactly real strong. Osama bin Laden had previously been part of a US supported opposition to the Soviets.
But on the other hand it's hard to see a country's people liking us less for supporting a popular struggle.
If it were up to me, I'd probably do something like that, but I think the current administration should stay the fuck away from it. It's just going to turn into another place to pour military-funding into indefinitely because we love to establish bases in countries and never leave.
