It's nowhere near button mashing action of God of War or Devil May Cry. The fighting is clean and precise. Every movement means something. A missed blow can mean your downfall and arrogantly attacking two foes at once will mean you're about to get butt raped.
You only lose the souls (currency) you are carrying at the time you died. If you spend it before you die then there's no problem.
Get the demo if there is one. I've not had more fun with a game in at least 5 years. Dark Souls > The Witcher 2 > Skyrim. Skyrim is a steaming pile of dog shit compared to Dark Souls.
