I try not to get wrapped up in explaining or defending myself on here, but maybe you missed the part where they said they were joking about that. Not sharing the alcohol you brought to a party is reprehensible behavior and I will not have anyone thinking I actually do that.
And beer is just a conduit to get you drunk. Don't be a snob about it.
