Keith, I don't recommend trying to fight the ticket from the MTA. They've changed the rules in recent years and made it all but impossible to dispute errors on the ticket.

In 2012, I got a ticket for moving between subway cars — while the train was parked with doors open — and they made 5 errors on the ticket. 5! I brought the ticket to the office and the woman told me in her finest legalese "fuck off." (she threw in a few Latin legal-isms like pro forma and de minimus into a tape recorder as some sort of official record.)

All in all it was a fucking mugging. They held me up for 30 minutes while giving the ticket and a solid two hours in trying to dispute the thing. The MTA is bullshit.
