here's how i feel about it: no matter what kind of mud boggin', huntin', fishin', big hair havin' heritage belongs to it, it has been co-opted by hate groups. that's the reality.

and the silly thing is, we're the ones with the power to squash it out. if we were to say this wasn't worth the trouble it's causing our neighbors and friends, it would lose its grip and fade into extremism. it's a tremendously exciting thing to be able to do. if we would do it. which we won't if we feel at all defensive. not right or wrong, but you kind of have to deal with us like a smart victorian woman deals with a man: it has to feel like our idea. or we'll rape you, but maritally.

we LOVE to dig our heels in. we will not be made to move. change is slow here for a lot of reasons. there are no simple, immediate actions to magically fix everything. it will take a couple more generations.
