I was on a train many years ago and chatting with an old Jewish German lady about a local politician (Jeff Kennet) who was running for office at the time. He had a habit of putting his foot in his mouth and was seen as a bit of fool. She said,

"Before Hitler came to office we though HE was a buffoon. You've got to watch this one"

Every time I hear a story about trump I'm reminded.
