I'm with Chemda. I think People want to relate and to feel connected to others when they guess. Also they want to show off that they know cultural things about another culture that isn't their own. I surely do it when I hang out with non-religious jews and I tell them about the holidays they don't celebrate. I wanna show off. I wanna show that I'm not like the other idiots who don't know what a [insert culture] even is.
Also last time I cried in public, not in a movie theater, was my first time having an edible. I was crying because my friend wouldn't believe me that the random patch of grass across from us was a cemetery.
