i think an interesting thing about the response is that the celebrities are presented in a non-sexual, neutral position and state, sleep, identical to the alluded painting of anonymous individuals, so our reaction to Kanye's work differs from that of Desiderio's by our being colored by what we already know about the intimate details and connections among of the lives of these people and our own feelings connected with that.

we are made uncomfortable because we know them or we think we know them so fucking well. the really invasive camera work mirrors exactly how we obsess. it's creepy because we /are/ creepily watching them when they are unaware and often without their consent.
