i make a conscious effort to come at things with a hug-it-out point of view, otherwise i'd have no friends left, but i am unable to stomach the gall of that call to action in this moment. it's asking people to accept a betrayal with a smile and dole out emotional labor to assuage the guilt that comes behind the cries of "NOT ME, NOT ME." i'm at a loss as to how to respond, particularly as a white person.
