Haven't finished listening yet, but the math teacher in me couldn't help it . . .

I HATE PEMDAS! At it's surface, it's incorrect, and it confuses kids all the damn time, and your PERMDAS thing is a PERFECT example . . .

See Radicals are a type of Exponent (the square root of 4 is the same as 4 to the 1/2 power), so you would do Exponents and Radicals at the same time in the order they appear from left to right. But by this same logic, division is a type of multiplication (4 divided by 2 is the same as 4 times 1/2) and subtraction is a type of addition (4 minus 2 is the same as 4 plus -2).

But because of PEMDAS, kiddos think you always do multiplication before division and addition before subtraction, which is incorrect!!

Anyway, sorry for nerding out, but this stupid acronym and fucking Aunt Sally, just drove me fucking crazy when I taught 5th grade!
