I worked for a startup that toed the line between being a scam and just being a shitty company with an awful product no one in their right minds would ever want or need. The business was totally driven on sales people spewing the right mumbo jumbo and covering up this crap app they were selling with enough buzz words that other companies ate it.
Seems similar to this company, except they're targeting authors and not other shitty companies, which definitely puts them in a worse category of capitalism. Although their sales team also seems incompetent enough that maybe they're not doing too much damage.
