non-religious homeschooling is awesome. i worked with a bunch of home schooled mountain kids and a bunch of public school kids and the home schooled kids were more mature, responsible, motivated, able to speak with and to adults better, had broader experiences like going to environmental river camps and other outings specific to their interests. lecture environments aren't my preferred method of learning. traditional school was a boring waste of time for me. i would have rather had less structure and more activities and interaction with the world at large in more capacities than authority/student. homeschooling can be done beautifully and isn't inherently inferior to institutional learning.
