Sodom must have been a horrible place and Lot certainly would have had extra problems if he was the only good person in town. So really if Lot had taken Keith's advice and "Just lee-va!" he would have kept his wife.
On the other hand salt was valuable so he probably did pretty well after that. I know I sound kinda cold but what's done is done, it's important not to look back.
