Not that many people got worked up about Kinect because it had a mic. Most people got worked up because it was shitty, even more because Microsoft wanted to force them to buy something they didn't want (that was also shitty), and a few people because it had a camera.
I oppose shit like the Patriot Act and believe people have a right to privacy, but I'm not a very private person and I'd sit naked in front of Kinect no problem and I have Echoes that listen to me 24/7 and I barely use them and I don't care.
