I got hit by a truck in the same way when I was in university ages ago.
I had the right of way going straight and he just turned right and didn't look. There even was a sign a few meters earlier warning of bikes going straight. Idiots not paying attention!
Anyway I think being hit fully flat on the side gives you a large impact area so I didn't get hurt either even though I was knocked off my bike.
I did breakdown hyperventilating and crying in my university lecture half an hour later though - I guess the panic adrenaline had worn off by then.
