The Catholic Church having their priests and monks be celibate make 'just not having sex' sound like an easy option if you just believe into it enough.
So I do believe that this makes it a more attractive profession for people struggling with their sexual urges.
But of course there is no easy off switch for biology.
And there is the concept of easy prey & crimes of opportunity: serial killers don't run around killing heavily armed Navy seals, and priests often regularly are in close contact with young children who they can control and keep silent much more easily than a grown ass adult.
