Keith is arguing about football from a point of logic, but football is an entertainment medium. Making as many divisions as possible creates a bunch of little races, which keeps more fans interested and ad dollars flowing. Football is an arbitrary game and the goal is "make money for the owners" not "make things logical" (And this
seems to be working just fine).
Also since each division plays a 14 of their games against identical teams, competing by division is more of an apples-to-apples comparison, which could be argued is more logical.
