Please stop repeating the headline that "a hairstylist exposed 91 people to COVID". That story is from Springfield, MO. The governor opened small service businesses such as hair salons, nail salons, and massage businesses on May 3.
Most people in that line of work are independent contractors which means they likely do not have access to healthcare, and they also pay "chair rent" to run their business. This means that at midnight on May 3, that hairstylist was probably hundreds of dollars in the hole for her chair rent. You have people with no access to healthcare, childcare, sick time, or unemployment benefits and now they owe money to their landlords because the governor opened up too soon. What are people supposed to do? Governor Mike Parson is forcing people to work. MIKE PARSON exposed 91 people to COVID. That's real talk.
