re: dads and secrets
During my half brother's funeral a few years back I learned about the existence of an aunt I didn't remember or know about. I also learned that my father had cut her out of his life for like over a decade because of some betrayal ( I feel like it might have had something to do with their conflicting religions???) and she showed up to the funeral even though he had made it clear she wasn't welcomed.
