I signed up about 3 years ago. It's a really simple questionnaire and then they send you a cheek swab kit. Super easy to get registered!
Apparently there are a lot of factors involved in matching, and most people will never get called to donate. Earlier this year I got matched to one person who ultimately decided not to (or could not) go through with the procedure.
