I knew Jeremiah had a bit of a cadence that took me back to the hell of my early pre-teen years when he started talking about the church he grew up in. I was part of a pentecostal church, Church of God of Prophecy, and we had all the same rules as he was talking about (no jewelry, no makeup, no pants). AND they spoke in tongues. AND THEN someone else in the church would interpret what God said into English during that tongue session and it was always God saying someone needed to REPENT NOW ON THEIR KNEES or THEY WOULD BE STRUCK DOWN!

DON'T GO BACK IN, JEREMIAH! Listen to that feeling you got when you went back with your brother, that's the true Holy Spirit telling you to get the fuck out! They walk on pews and the further into the country you go, they handle snakes. This is not an exaggeration.

I laugh when Chemda says she's proud of herself when she forgets a Jewish holiday. One of my proudest moments as a mother is when Alicia asked me if Easter was always on a Sunday.

Organized religion is evil.
