Well actually...(lol) I have friends who are refugees from Tibet. Thru them I've spent time with Tibetans incl monks and studied the religion with an elderly nun. The term 'His holiness' is just for respect. Buddhists dont believe in god let alone the western concept of holiness. That's why hhdl dresses the same as the other monks, unlike popes, bishops, etc. Also, granddads don't expect any actual tongue-sucking to occur. I'm pretty sure that kid was not exposed to traditional Tibetan culture so was kind of freaked out. K thanks for listening.
