A computer Smarter than the ENTIRE human race

By 2013, there will be a computer that exceeds the capabilites of the human brian. By 2049, there will be a $1000 computer that is smarter than the entire human race. :S How scary is that?

Why would we create a computer that is more intelligent than us and therefore can out think us and probably take over our population.
