Key found to making robots human-friendly

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21644161/

Touch could also be key to making robots accepted by humans as social peers, scientists say.

On average, robots today can hold human interest for only about 10 hours, but in a new study, a humanoid robot dubbed QRIO (pronounced "curio") was accepted by human toddlers as "one of them" for 5 months before it was taken away.
they're really trying to get these kids while they're young. the leaders of tomorrow won't even see it coming...

As the saying goes, "Man will construct its own deconstruction."

I'm with you C_S, the leaders of tomorrow will never see it coming. In all honestly, if it does ever come into actuality of a human v. robot war, those leaders would end up defending the robots in the beginning.

I shudder to think that anyone would think it a good idea for interaction between babies/children and huminoid robots!

is that a real quote from someone? i like it.

the fact that people would want to have their children interacting with robots is pretty scary. kids are so easily influenced at that age, they don't know what's real and what isn't. i wonder if it would have the same sort of affect as when new born animals are raised by a different species. could orphaned and other unwanted babies be raised by robots?

That quote came from a book I read a while ago. I'll look it up and find who exactly said it though.

You have brought up a scary set of questions! Children raised by robots?!!? I'd rather they be raised by a pack of wolves instead.

Wait. Would the children act like humans or would they act like robots if they were raised by robots?
