One last thing that definitely divides religion from non-religion is the debate of abortion.

If you've been following this thread, you know I'm definitely not religious. You don't have to be religious or even have any believe in any God to know that life begins at inception.

I feel that it's morally wrong to kill life, it really is as simple as that. What sucks is that I seem like bible-thumpers or a religious fanatic because of it.

no you don't. we kill "life" all the time with little to no regard: house plants. spiders. deer. possums. trees. fresh lobster. bacteria. baby cows.

have you cut all your soda rings with your moral righteousness? they kill endangered turtles.

your pro-life is pro-human birth. life is a spectrum to which i say, i have no qualms squashing scorpions or unwanted bundles of cells parasitically living in my uterus.

All I can add to Sparrow's post is a resounding call of "BULLSHIT". I'd like life to begin when the little bastards move out of home, but I realise that may be a bit extreme. I'll settle for the mother deciding when life begins - as long as the little shit is in her uterus, she gets to pull the fucking trigger.

You may, but I don't. In fact my family thinks I'm fucking nuts when I catch a grasshopper in a glass and let him outside. I also got in trouble for telling an exterminator coming to my house was a mistake.

I knew this would spur some discussion

I'm not saying I'm more righteous than anyone, so don't get all defensive. Whether you squash a scorpion or kill a living thing in your uterus, it's killing life.

If it's ok to kill a human being inside your uterus, it should be equally as fine to kill a human being outside of it. I doubt you think murder is acceptable so where is your line?

Again, don't get all worked up just because we have different opinions. The debate is good.

How the fuck do you catch a grasshopper?

Do you wait until they're asleep and roll silently up behind them?

Any fucking grasshopper slow enough to be caught by you deserves to be killed. Fucking Darwin, bitches.

I know you don't truly believe that It's up to the mother to decide that a living thing in her uterus isn't life? Life certainly doesn't start right after birth.

Hey - she's the incubator. She can pull the pin any time she wants. It's on her to look after the little prick once it drops out of mummy's snatch.

life starts when something exhibits the 7 signs of life:

movement
respiration
sensitivity
growth
reproduction
excretion
nutrition

single cells are alive. the moral dilemma resides in when that life becomes protected sentient human life.

if we're gonna have this discussion, precision of speech matters. every time you've ever used hand sanitizer, you've literally destroyed millions of life.
